Choosing an Exercise Video

The below mentioned factors are just a few of the many that you may want to take into consideration, when buying exercise videos to incorporate into your at-home weight loss program. Most times, you will find that any exercise video is better than no video at all, but taking the time to find the perfect one will likely make your weight loss program much more enjoyable.

Many individuals prefer to do their own, at-home weight loss programs. If you are one of those individuals, you may be interested in buying exercise videos. Exercise videos, also commonly referred to as workout videos, are a great addition to any weight loss program.

Although you may have bought workout videos before, have you even done so when seriously trying to lose weight? In the United States, a large number of individuals buy exercise videos just because. Just because exercise videos are a lot different than exercise videos that are a part of a weight loss plan. That is why you should shop for them differently.

When it comes to buying exercise videos for yourself, as a part of your weight loss program, there are number of important factors that you may want to take into consideration. These factors will not only make buying exercise videos for yourself easier, but they will also help to ensure that you choose the exercise video or videos that are best for you and your own personal needs. A few of the many factors that you should take into consideration, when buying an exercise video are outlined below.

One of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, when buying exercise videos as a part of your weight loss plan:
1.the type of exercises that you want to do. For instance, you often get to choose between traditional aerobic videos, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, and so forth. To spice up your weight loss plan and to keep it fun and exciting, you may want to think about buying a collection of exercise videos, particularly a mixture of them.

2.difficulty. What you need to remember is that many workout videos come in sessions. For instance, it is possible to find kickboxing videos that are designed for beginners, those at the intermediate level, as well as those at an advanced level. You want to make sure that you choose the right video for yourself. If you are not careful, you may end up with an advanced workout video that you cannot even use, as you are unable to keep up with the instructor.

3.Cost is another factor that you may want to take into consideration, when buying workout videos or exercise videos for yourself. In your search for exercise videos, you will find that they are sold for a wide range of prices. Some are affordable, others are a little bit more costly, and many are downright expensive. Of course, the expensive workout videos may be worth the cost, but you never really know until you order them. One way to help make sure that you are spending your money wisely is to search for exercise video reviews online. This can often be done with a standard internet search.
Of course, whatever you choose, you have to unwrap the exercise video and use it!

Five Tips for Going Vegetarian

Increasingly, people have become interested in eating less meat or even going vegetarian. There are many great reasons to start to reduce and even remove meat from your diet entirely. Not only is reducing your meat consumption good for your health, but it's actually good for the planet as well. Producing livestock for the amount of meat that the planet currently consumes is one of the most destructive, non-eco friendly practices in existence today. However, reducing or giving up meat can be challenging. Here are five tips to make it easier!

Start Small

Don't try to give up all meat at once! Phase yourself into it. Start by just practicing Meatless Monday to get used to a day without meat as well as to start to learn to cook without meat. Like anything else, if you try to give up something entirely at first, you'll be challenged to be successful.

Select Easy Vegetarian Recipes

Don't begin by trying to cook the most complicated vegetarian recipes possible. Eating vegetarian can be challenging, so invest in a book of simple vegetarian recipes. There are a number of great cookbooks that featured fully, hot vegetarian meals that can be cooked in thirty minutes or less.

Don't Eat Only Salads

Much like eating meat doesn't mean that you should eat only hamburgers each day, eating vegetarian doesn't mean that you should eat only salad every day. You don't just want to be a vegetarian, you want to be a healthy vegetarian. That means a diversity of diet that extends beyond lettuce and tomatoes.

Research Protein Sources

Without a doubt, the biggest challenge when you give up meat is finding alternative sources of proteins. As we said above, you don't just want to be a vegetarian, you want to be a healthy vegetarian. If you're only giving up meat, consider eggs as a great source of protein. You may also want to consider continuing to eat fish. Alternatively, do the research about the best nuts, soy and other products to supplement your protein.

Find a Message Board and Ask Other Vegetarians

The best advice on going vegetarian can be gained from other vegetarians. Find a good message board or online community and talk to other vegetarians about the best way to go meat free, stay meat free and be healthier (and kinder to the planet).

Even if you don't want to go vegetarian, reducing how much meat you have in your diet will pay off for both your personal health and the health of the planet. Start today by having just one meat-free meal and go from there!

Jocelyn Saurini became a vegetarian because of her desire to go green with her life. Now she not only writes about green living tips, she also writes about how to go vegetarian. She eats meat-free and lives waste-free as much as she can, and she hopes she'll be able to help you do the same.

How to Strip Off Body Fat and Keep Your Muscle

So you have finally decided to shed those extra pounds and uncover those long buried abs?

Here's what will happen:

You'll go on a diet, start working out and everything will be great. For the first two weeks, the pounds will drop off and progress will be quick and painless.

But then things will grind to a halt. Your metabolism will slow down to a snails pace. The scale will get stuck.
You will re-double your efforts. Cut calories. Add more cardio. And it seems to work. The scale is headed south once again.
But one day you look in the mirror and you'll notice that your muscle is (gasp) gone! The fat is still there, but the muscle is disappearing.
So you immediately start eating more, hoping to save your hard-earned muscle. But because you have lost muscle, your metabolism has dropped. And all those extra calories end up as fat.
Your best intentions back fired. You tried to lose some fat, and instead you ended up even fatter with less muscle.
Ain't life cruel?
But don't worry. Because today I'm going to show you how to strip off fat WITHOUT sacrificing your hard-earned muscle. (In fact, if you follow these rules you should actually get STRONGER even while you lose weight.)
Without further ado, here are my five rules for stripping off body fat while preserving muscle.

Rule #1: Don't Drop Carbs To Zero.

People often make the mistake of avoiding all carbohydrates. This can result in some quick weight loss (mostly water weight) but a lack of carbohydrates can also slow your metabolism.
So don't eliminate carbohydrates completely. Instead,

Rule #2: Focus On "Nature-Made" Carbs.

When trying to burn off body fat, steer clear of "man-made" carbs like cakes, cookies and white bread products.
Instead, focus on "nature-made" carbs like fruits, vegetables, potatoes and whole grain products.
These items naturally contain more fiber which will help you feel full. Fiber also helps to lessen the insulin spike and fat storing effects that occur when consuming "man-made" carbohydrates.

Rule #3: Keep Protein High.
Protein is "muscle-sparing" which means that your body will use any available protein for cellular repairs before breaking down muscle tissue.
I've found that by consuming 1.0-1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight daily, you can actually build new strength while stripping off body fat.

Rule #4: Don't Avoid Dietary Fat!
It sounds weird, but you want to burn fat you have got to eat (some) fat.
I recommend you try and focus on healthy fats like fish oil, extra virgin olive oil or fats found naturally in nuts like almonds.

Rule #5: Use Weight Training To Build Muscle and Strength, NOT To Burn Fat.

One of the biggest myths about burning fat is that you should lift light weights with high reps. But this is all wrong.
If you take the opposite approach and continue to lift heavy and try to get stronger with every single workout, it sends a clear message to your body that your muscles are still "in use" and should not be sacrificed.
Follow these five simple rules and you can burn off your excess body fat without sacrificing your hard-earned muscle.

Weight Gain and Eating During Pregnancy

Eating during pregnancy is about more than just making sure you give your baby everything she needs to grow healthy. It's also about making sure you stay healthy and well-nourished throughout the nine months you carry your child.

But most women worry about how much weight to gain throughout these nine months-how much weight gain is too much? Staying as fit as possible during pregnancy is desirable because you can achieve your pre-baby weight much more easily after you have your baby.

Weight gain is a particular concern for second semester nutrition, as this is the time in which you will gain the most weight throughout your pregnancy. So how can you keep your weight within a healthy range? Following are some tips to help you keep your gain to a minimum.

The Importance of Water

Water is the most important ally you can have in the fight against gaining too much weight during pregnancy. In fact, water should be your default beverage throughout the next nine months. You should aim to drink at least half your body weight (in pounds) in water (in ounces) per day. Therefore, if you weigh 140 pounds, you should drink at least 70 ounces of water daily.

Water will help flush toxins from your body and will help keep water retention at bay. Water will also help you feel fuller for longer, which will help keep you from consuming too many calories. Water also aids in keeping your elimination regular, which will keep you from becoming constipated.

Eating During Pregnancy: Know the Right Foods

Pregnancy is a great time for learning how to eat properly, a habit that can last the rest of your life. Rather than looking at food as an indulgence, why not use this opportunity to study different foods and how they can effect, improve, or harm your body?

Increase the value of every bite you take by selecting fresh leafy greens, organic eggs, raw nuts, nut butters, and lean proteins and incorporating them into every meal if possible. Add healthy fats such as organic butter, olive oil, and coconut oil so you feel satiated and get your allotment of essential fatty acids. Avoid foods that can cause problems, such as sugar, artificial sweeteners, or foods containing high levels of caffeine.

Indulge on Occasion

When it comes to pregnancy nutrition, it's tempting to try to completely change your diet overnight. But this can cause more stress than it's worth. In fact, it's best to avoid stressful situations during pregnancy, so changing your diet overnight can trigger a stress response in your body--something that should be avoided. So try incorporating small changes over time.

For example, if you have a strong coffee or tea habit, try stepping down your consumption over time. If you quit cold turkey, your detox symptoms could make you quite ill. Rather than stress over your food choices, find small ways you can change your every day routine-ways that you can increase your health and wellbeing and your baby's health throughout the next nine months.

How Much Is Too Much?

The most common question about eating during pregnancy and weight gain must be, "How much is too much weight to gain?" It's best to gain a minimal amount of weight during pregnancy because your recovery after you have your baby--and your return to your normal weight--will be much easier.

Minimal weight gain also helps you to stay healthy and active throughout your pregnancy, which makes for an easier labor. On the other hand, you should expect to gain some weight during the next nine months. A gain of between 20 and 30 pounds is within the normal range. If you gain more than that, weight loss after pregnancy will be much more of an ordeal.

How To Eat And Live Healthy

More so, in an age when most of us drive to work, eat out really often, snack on junk food and lead more stationary lives...at the mercy of computers at work and television sets at home. So what do you do in such a situation to protect yourself against rising cholesterol levels or the dangers of an impending heart attack, hypertension, diabetes and obesity?

If you ask me, there is no short term solution to the risks such a lifestyle poses. If at all there is a solution, it is to make slight changes to our everyday lives and commit to them forever. I believe that initially the results may be slow, but the longer you stick to the techniques mentioned below, the healthier you will feel and see yourself become.

EAT... AND LIVE HEALTHY TECHNIQUES

1. WATER: Start and end your day with a glass of water. Drink a glass of water in addition, before and after each main meal you have. That will keep you fuller and hydrated throughout the day and you would have automatically consumed your required quota of 8 to 10 glasses. Adequate water intake prevents your body from unnecessary water retention and also prevents it from storing water as reserve, in the wrong places.

2. MEALS: Eat within half an hour of waking up and never skip breakfast. Besides breakfast, break lunch and dinner into two segments each. This means, that instead of having three larger meals, you will have five smaller meals a day. The logic behind smaller meals is that it is easier for the stomach to break down and digest. Since the body's metabolism is slowest at night, do ensure that dinner is a smaller meal compared to lunch and have it preferably, three hours prior to sleeping.

3. CHEW: A little known fact is that chewing food instead of gobbling or gulping it down, helps in keeping our weights healthy and in check. Make it a habit to chew slowly, 15-20 bites per mouthful is good! Doing so, not just aids digestion but also helps you know when your stomach is full.

4. BALANCED DIET: Being a vegetarian, for me a balanced diet includes getting my daily dose of fibre in the form of oats, brown bread and brown rice; calcium in the form of milk and curd; proteins in the form of pulses and legumes and vitamins in the form of salads, green vegetables and fruits. For non-vegetarians, lean portions of meat in addition are preferable, since they are low- fat. Consulting a dietician to know your personalised balanced diet needs, is strongly recommended.

5. AVOID: While a teaspoon or two of sugar and oil a day is fine with me, I try my best to avoid items with trans-fat, excess sugar or fat like oil, butter, clarified butter, cheese, cream, etc. I also avoid items packed with excess salt, because too much of it is unhealthy and causes water retention. It is important, not to completely do away with sugar, salt and a little fat in our lives, because they are brain food. However monitoring your intake is essential because fruits, vegetables, bread, rice and pulses, already contain some amounts of these.

Exercise is Not in a Weight Loss Diet Pill

If you decide to go the diet pill route, remember, you still have to add
some exercise to loss weight and remain healthy. Some things just don't
all come in a pill.

With all the strenuous activities and sweat-generating regimens that most
weight loss programs have, more and more people are enticed to opt for a
better alternative, without the trouble of exerting too much effort.

With the advent of diet pills that promote weight loss, people go mad
over the appealing advertisements of most manufacturers claiming that
their product can easily “melt away” those fats and cellulites.

With these pills dominating the market today, who needs to tone those abs
and biceps and do some dieting if there is an easier way to lose weight?

With an estimated 60% of the American population that are now considered
as obese, these “wonder” drugs are definitely reaping millions of dollars
in the United States alone.

Now, the questions are: is there any truth regarding the manufacturers’
claims that these diet pills can ultimately promote weight loss? Are they
really effective in helping people lose weight? And if that is the case,
do these pills also help those people maintain their ideal weight and
curb any fat accumulation in the body?

In reality, there are diet pills that can really make a person shed off
those extra pounds. These diet pills contain certain substances that were
already clinically and scientifically proven to be very effective.
These diet pills are effective in increasing the metabolism of the body,
thereby, initiating weight loss. Plus, these diet pills contain certain
substances that suppress one’s appetite.

However, with so many diet pills saturating the market today, trying to
find the best and most effective diet pill can be very tedious. Chances
are, you may end up choosing the wrong diet pill when your energy to find
diet pills wanes down.

Actually, there are only five factors to consider when choosing diet
pills that are effective at the same time safe to use. Here is a list of
the factors that you need to consider in order to come up with a diet
pill that is right and appropriate.

1. The metabolism-boosting ability

In choosing diet pills that will effectively promote weight loss, it is
best to look for pills that have the ingredients that will enhance your
body’s metabolism, or the ability of the body to burn excess fats.
Choose those diet pills that contain alpha lipoic acid, green tea
extracts, and “L-Canitine” because these ingredients had been clinically
proven to be effective in promoting weight loss through increased
metabolic rate.

2. The appetite suppressants

Find diet pills that effectively suppress your appetite. It does not
necessarily mean that you will skip meals but you will not just feel
hungry every now and then. This is because obesity usually happens to
people who are fond of in-between meals, which actually initiates
excessive calorie intake.

3. The calorie stopper

Because obesity is usually due to excess intake of calories in the body,
which is more than the recommended amount, it is best to choose diet
pills that have the special ingredients that will curb the entry of
calories into the body.
These substances are known as “phaseolus vulgaris.” This is known to
create an enzyme that will efficiently control any excess calories in the
body. The enzyme responsible for this wonderful job is known as
“alpha-amylase.”

4. The metabolic enhancers

It is best to choose diet pills that have the so-called “lipotropic
elements” that are effective in eliminating fats from the body. It
functions like a sweeper that effectively sweeps excess fats outside the
body. These lipotropic elements are found in vitamin C, chitosan, alpha lipoic acid, and green tea extracts.

5. The water-retention breaker

Effective diet pills are those that contain diuretics. These are elements
that avert the retention of water in the body during the weight loss
regimen.

All of these factors are, indeed, clinically proven and effective in
losing weight. Though, it must be kept in mind that diet pills alone are
not sufficient to provide optimum weight loss. Hence, it is still
important to do some exercises.

If you are trying to lose weight, Fiber is your best friend!

If you've been looking for a way towards a high
octane diet, you'll find fiber to be exactly what
you need. Even though research has shown fiber to
be powerful, many people aren't taking this nutrient
seriously.

To help you fuel your health with fiber, here are
10 facts to help.

1. Fiber fights diseases. A diet high in fiber can
help to prevent colon cancer and heart disease. High
fiber helps the body to eliminate cholesterol by
binding it in the digestive tract. For thousands of
years, fiber has been used to stop constipation.

2. Fiber can actually help with overeating. All high
fiber foods will take longer to chew and digest,
making you feel satisfied longer

3. Most popular foods don't have enough fiber. If
you like the more popular foods, you probably need
to increase your intake of fiber.

4. Grains offer the most fiber. Dietary fiber is
actually plant matter that we cannot digest. The best
sources are whole grains and concentrated grain
products.

5. Kids need fiber as well. Children that are older
than 2 years of age should consume a daily intake of
fiber. Kids are most receptive to fiber found in
fruits, vegetables, and even fortified breakfast
cereals.

6. More fiber needs more water. In order to keep
fiber moving through your digestive tract, you'll
need to consume a lot of water. With your diet of
fiber, you'll need eight or more glasses of water
every day.

7. Fiber cannot be cooked out. When you cook
your fruits and vegetables, don't worry about cooking
the fiber out, as it stays. The fiber found in
fruits and vegetables aren't just in the skin or
in the peel.

8. You can get enough fiber. If you eat more than
50 grams of fiber in a day, you can get diarrhea
and bloating, which can interfere with your body's
absorption of other key minerals.

9. Getting the right amount of fiber in your diet
doesn't have to be hard. Even though you may think
so, getting the amount of fiber you need isn't very
hard to do. All you have to do is eat the right
foods and you'll be well on your way to a fiber
rich lifestyle.

As one of the key ingredients to healthy eating,
fiber is something you don't want to skip. Fiber can
serve many different purposes, which were covered
above. If you aren't getting enough fiber in your
diet - you should do something about now instead
of waiting until it is too late.

Cellulite is Attractive Only If You Are an Orange

Cellulite can be defined as a range of symptoms including thinning of the epidermis, reduction and breakdown of the microvasculature leading to subdermal accumulations of fluids, and subdermal agglomerations of fatty tissue.

Now in English:

Cellulite is deposits of fats trapped in pockets of connective tissues that are situated just under the skin. It is responsible for a progressive bulky appearance with creases and layers of fats that are visible even from a distance. It's the lumpy cottage cheese look or orange peel appearance. Cellulite is that dimpling or pucker look. If you are female and over 35, you probably know what I mean. If you don't have it, you are sure to have seen it in over 80% of females in that age group. And more recently, even teenagers have been seen with the unsightly condition. There is no cure. The first person to really develop a cure for cellulite will become an instant multi-millionaire. I have my credit card in hand waiting!

Causes of Cellulite

1. Hormonal changes during puberty, during pregnancy and pre/post menopausal periods
2. Overproduction of estrogen, disturbance in endocrine functions can increase fat storage in the body
3. Sedentary lifestyle that lacks of exercises and physical activities
4. Excess amount of saturated fats and sugary items in diet
5. Poor hydration
6. Poor blood circulation
7. Poor lymphatic flow

Other factors considered to the degree of cellulite in the body:

1. Genes
2. Gender
3. Amount of fat you have on your body.
4. Cellulite also depends upon how thick your skin is.
5. Your age.

The reason men typically do not have cellulite is simply because of the way the fibers within their dermis are shaped. They are not crossed, like a woman's. They are perpendicular so a build up of sweaty fat beneath the skin never takes place.Think of it like fingers. A mans fibers are like straight out fingers. Side by side. A woman has fibers that are crossed which allows the fat to seep through appearing puckered. Not only are the fibrous bands in women crossed, but also they tend to be much tighter than a man's, which causes a pulling on the skin and ends up causing the actual dimpling effect.

How to Get Rid of Cellulite? You can't really but it can be reduced.

What helps?

Physical activities such as exercises, diet and giving up sedentary lifestyle helps to reduce fat and cellulite from the body. Aerobic weight loss exercise and certain strength training are two of the best tools to win the battle against cellulite or at least slow it down. Give up certain high-calorie, high-fat and high-carbohydrate diets that can turn into fats and can get stored in the body. Include fiber in the diet. Fat present in the intestines binds to fiber or roughage and is expelled with feces.

There are a bundle of cellulite treatment products on the market such as anti cellulite cream, cellulite shoes and cellulite lotion, promising the possibility of cellulite reduction. Other types of cellulite reduction techniques include cellulite body wrap, endermologie cellulite, cellulite and liposuction, mesotherapy cellulite and cellulite massage. All come with questionable results and expense.

The best attack to reduce cellulite is to go inside the body armed with a healthy diet, and do exercises that pinpoint the cellulite areas. Not only will you reduce the cellulite but increase over all health. Strip that fat and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
