Fiber and Weight Loss

If you've been looking for a way towards a high
octane diet, you'll find fiber to be exactly what
you need. Even though research has shown fiber to
be powerful, many people aren't taking this nutrient
seriously.

To help you fuel your health with, here are
10 facts to help.

1. Fiber fights diseases. A diet high in fiber can
help to prevent colon cancer and heart disease. High
fiber helps the body to eliminate cholesterol by
binding it in the digestive tract. For thousands of
years, fiber has been used to stop constipation.

2. Fiber can actually help with overeating. All high
fiber foods will take longer to chew and digest,
making you feel satisfied longer

3. Most popular foods don't have enough fiber. If
you like the more popular foods, you probably need
to increase your intake of fiber.

4. Grains offer the most fiber. Dietary fiber is
actually plant matter that we cannot digest. The best
sources are whole grains and concentrated grain
products.

5. Kids need fiber as well. Children that are older
than 2 years of age should consume a daily intake of
fiber. Kids are most receptive to fiber found in
fruits, vegetables, and even fortified breakfast
cereals.

6. More fiber needs more water. In order to keep
fiber moving through your digestive tract, you'll
need to consume a lot of water. With your diet of
fiber, you'll need eight or more glasses of water
every day.

7. Fiber cannot be cooked out. When you cook
your fruits and vegetables, don't worry about cooking
the fiber out, as it stays. The fiber found in
fruits and vegetables aren't just in the skin or
in the peel.

8. You can get enough fiber. If you eat more than
50 grams of fiber in a day, you can get diarrhea
and bloating, which can interfere with your body's
absorption of other key minerals.

9. Getting the right amount of fiber in your diet
doesn't have to be hard. Even though you may think
so, getting the amount of fiber you need isn't very
hard to do. All you have to do is eat the right
foods and you'll be well on your way to a fiber
rich lifestyle.

As one of the key ingredients to healthy eating,
fiber is something you don't want to skip. Fiber can
serve many different purposes, which were covered
above. If you aren't getting enough fiber in your
diet - you should do something about now instead
of waiting until it is too late.

Common Sense Choses are Best Options and Make Best Diet

Use practical foods morning, noon and night: my best diet for weight
loss. Common Sense Chooses:

Breakfast:

Include some healthy staples, and some healthy fruits in your breakfast.
Pair healthy oatmeal with blueberries, or whole wheat or wheat bran
cereal with strawberries or bananas.
Try mixing a healthy cereal like All Bran into your nonfat or low fat
yogurt. It will perk up your plain yogurt and give it a great crunch.
Add some fresh fruit to your yogurt. Try buying plain, nonfat yogurt and
mixing in your own raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. You will
save money and enjoy a healthy lose weight breakfast. And having
breakfast is not an option..its like gas to your car. You are not going
far without it and that does not include chocolate donuts!

Get rid of high fat butter. Spread your toast with apple butter or soy
nut butter instead. Always try to use whole grain varieties of bread
like wheat or rye.

Drink a glass of 100% fruit juice with breakfast every day. Orange
juice, grape juice, apple juice and grapefruit juice are all great
choices.Blend 1% milk or soy milk with fresh pineapple for a healthy,
delicious breakfast smoothie....have a healthy breakfast in the car.

Lunch and dinner ideas:

Make a great tuna salad with grated carrots, green peppers, red peppers,
garlic and onion. Sometimes I just add relish to boost the flavor.
Make a dish of fresh whole grain pasta and top it will homemade tomato
sauce and fresh home grown herbs.Onions and leeks, along with tomatoes, make a great side dish.

Grill healthy fish and serve with a healthy side salad.
Try some low fat soups like spinach and broccoli soup.
Use olive oil to make a great vegetable stir fry.

Healthy snacks:

No best diet plan is complete without some great healthy snacks. Check my
favorites below:

1.A piece of fresh fruit, like an apple, orange or banana, always makes a
great snack. And so much fiber. Keep a bowl of fruit on your kitchen
counter for "just a reach away."
2.Mix nuts and dried fruit for a great homemade trail mix. Hikers and
non hikers alike will enjoy this healthy snack.
3.Treat yourself to a great glass of orange, tomato or cranberry juice
before you leave the house in the morning.
4.Keep a supply of broccoli florets, baby carrots and other bite size
vegetables, and some healthy dip, on hand.
5.Make your own fruit salad with oranges, bananas, raspberries,
blueberries, strawberries and other favorites.

Babyboomers May Outlive Their Children

Just a very short note here to my blog. I have no real answer to this...just my opinion.

Have you seen some old pics of the "kids" at "Woodstock?" How many fatties do you see there? Some but not many.

Has anyone else noticed that the kids are getting fatter?I mean really Fatter. The older generation of babyboomers have reached retirement age with the youngest 16 years behind but most of their weight started as adults, not as children or teens. The longer a person carries too much fat, the longer the adverse effects are to their health. If this trend of fat children and teens continues, they will have carried the problem years longer than the generation before them and may actually die before their
parents...not a pleasant thought.

I'm not an nutritionists but just common sense tells me that if you
take more calories in than you burn, you will gain weight. Not rocket science.

Add some fiber blocks the bad fat from entering the bloodstream to your kids diet and get them moving. The only way to burn calories is to move and that does not mean moving your fingers across the computer keys or fighting imaginary battles with the Xbox or the latest Nintendo video game. These games can be mentally stimulating with positive effects on the mind but the body that houses the mind, needs to be feed the best fuel and to be exercised on a regular basis.

Buy your kids a bike. If you can't get them away from the video games, at least purchase one of the "fit" games where the child is physically participating in the game action.

Fat-Blocker Foods Are a Dieter's Dream

I can't really advise you on the best diet for you. I don't know you, your likes and dislikes, any health issues you may have, your motivation, or exercise level. Sometimes one diet is as good as another. If you have claimed yours and are successful already than by all means continue but if you are still searching for the one that will work for you than this blog is sure to be of some help. But remember, investing in a weight loss system or guide or ebook is just like buying that new piece of exercise equipment...you have to use it to get the positive results you are looking for!

My choice is the Strip That Fat Diet System...it's down to earth, realistic and easy to follow. It's just a healthy long lasting, painless way to loss weight. It just makes sense. The foods listed below block fats from entering your blood stream and the strip that fat contains many of them. In fact, if you can go it alone, just add a bunch of these high fiber foods listed below and you will feel fuller and probably eat less and weight less.

Certain foods that are high in fiber can "block fat" by helping control your fat and sugar intake. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, women should eat at least 20 grams of fiber per day and men should eat at least 30 grams of fiber each day.

Three Main Fiber Food Groups

1.Fruits and Vegetables...love those raspberries

Fruits and vegetables are among the healthiest and best fat-blocking foods on earth and are loaded with fiber. Some of the types of fruits that are highest in fiber and therefore contain the most fat-blocking potential are:

Raspberries, which have 8 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving
Pears, which have 6 grams of fiber
Apples, which have 5 grams of fiber
strawberries, with 4 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving
Artichokes, with 10 grams of fiber per serving
Peas, with 9 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving
Broccoli, with 5 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving
Corn, which contains 4 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving

2.Grains are among the healthiest fat-blocker foods...oatmeal for breakfast from now on

The fiber in whole grains can help regulate your digestive system and help regulate your blood sugar levels, which prevents you from eating foods high in fat and sugar. The bran and fiber contained in whole grains can make it hard for digestive enzymes to break down starches in your body into glucose, which essentially means fiber can help act as a fat blocker. Choose whole grains:

whole wheat pasta, may have to dress it up with some non fat selsa
bran
barley
oatmeal
brown rice
whole wheat bread

3.Beans and nuts are full of healthy benefits and are some of the best fat blocker foods you can eat. Nuts are high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that actually help you maintain a healthy body and can help you lose weight. And of course they are high in fiber:

sunflower seeds contain 4 grams of fiber per serving
almonds 4 grams of fiber per serving
pistachios 4 grams of fiber per serving
pecans 4 grams of fiber per serving.
Legumes( beans) may be the overall best source of fiber there is.
lentils, pinto beans, kidney beans and black beans contain 16 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving
lima beans and garbanzo beans contain 14 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving
baked beans contain 10 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving.

With hundreds of delicious foods high in fiber,it is an incredibly powerful tool for controlling weight.

Count carbs, count fats, count calories but the easiest way to lose weight is to count fiber.

Summer Weight Loss Again

Here we go again. The beginning of the need to lose weight for the Summer. We can't hide the belly roll under a hoodie, well, you could but a hoodie in 90 degree weather just doesn't cut it! It happens every year.

Pre-summer season weight loss. This is the the time where gym memberships are up, starvation diets like the grapefruit diet or the lemonade diet or whatever outrageous diet is popular. We do this every year because those diets don't create long-term weight loss and overall health, so while we may lose a few pounds at first, we generally always gain it all back, and then some.

Its time to start a weight loss program you can live with for the rest of your life and avoid the Summer panic weight loss routine. You need a weight loss program that takes the weight off quickly, one you can live with, and one that is permanent.

Are you tired of the cycle of crash dieting? Finding the diet solution is not easy.
You can break the cycle! Find the diet ( I hate that word!) or better yet, find the healthy way to "live" at a proper weight for YOU.

Crash dieting never works. They don't give you enough calories in the day for you to feel energized and give you enough nutrients to keep you going. These diets don't work because no one can survive on them, and your body actually feels something has gone amuk and your metabolism will slow down. That's one thing you don't want when you are trying to lose weight...a sluggish metabolism.

Lose weight and stay healthy and happy.

You need a weight loss plan that will teach you how to make healthy food
choices so that you never have to be hungry, and will show you how to find exercises that you actually enjoy doing, so that you can fit them into your lifestyle.

Need to lose some pounds quickly? That class reunion is in 2 weeks and your former classmates will never recognize you? You then need a diet that has a diet generator that lets you choose your foods from a list of healthy foods that will drop the pounds quickly. You need to be able to
choose foods that YOU like and that's what a diet generator is all about or at least should be.

Ready for a more long-term goal? Go to that class reunion looking good but continue with your healthy weight loss diet so last year's swim suit slides on with ease, look great at those backyard pool parties and still remain your perfect size for the end of year holidays!

Everyone is different and most diets don't consider this. A 130 pound woman does not need the same amount of calories as a 200 pound male.
They also do not need the same types of foods during the day. They have a different genetic history, exercise habits and metabolism rate.
They will need different diet plans. We are all different and need a diet plan that is molded for each of us.

In other words, YOU need to personalize your meal plans so that they work for you. Vegetarian? No problem. Hate dairy products? You don't have to eat them. A fussy teenager who still has that "baby fat" that at 18 is not so "cute" anymore. Are you a new Mom? The baby has arrived, 6 months
ago, but the the baby belly hangs on.

3 pieces of broccoli and a bit of fish for dinner? Ya sure, not enough. You need a diet plan that allows you to eat until you are satisfied or you will be starving, unhappy, and off that diet in no time. A diet should help you learn how to eat your food slowly and enjoy it, so that you can really understand what your body is telling you and know when you've had enough. Learning portion sizes that work for you is a key to long-term weight loss. You can count calories and measure your portions for a week but not long term. It gets old fast.

A good healthy diet plan should teach you all about food groups, vitamins and minerals so that you can understand why you should be eating what when. Its so much easier to stay with a diet plan when you know the reasons why.It should also include an exercise plan to improve your
overall health. Sometimes that means just throwing yourself out the door for a walk and yes, sometimes I have to throw myself out because I understand the reasons behind the action. Also, if you exercise, you can
eat MORE. As far as I'm concerned that may be the best reason to exercise.

A diet should help you become healthier, lose weight, and look better. But most diets are unrealistic and after a couple of weeks you slip back into the old ways and gain the pounds back. Its not your fault. How much grapefruit can a person eat? Or how long can you go on 2 bowls of cereal and then one main meal a day?

Find a diet that will teach you about. A diet that makes sense and that you can follow through with. There are good diets out there. Aim realistically. This babyboomer wasn't "runway" material at 20 so I'm sure as hell not going to be one now...but "runway" models are too skinny anyway!! LOL
